Set in 1863 Missouri, A Lasting Peace is a drama that tells the story of a young man's attempt to find peace during the hostile days of the American Civil War.  Humorous interaction between the characters keep the play lighthearted.  Young Billy's antics only seem the more humorous when compounded by Mrs. Perkins' disapproval.
Although this script is written as a musical, it is possible to adapt the play for use without the music. Except for the theme song, all music is from the Civil War era.  Accompaniment includes piano, violins, and harmonica.
